An example of custom software that we have designed is our Video Overlay unit. We noticed that there are number of Overlay units available on the market, but they all have two main disadvantages: (1) it is not easy to strip and insert the data received via the serial port(s), and (2) it is hard to position data on the overlay screen.

We resolved both of these problems by automatically stripping the data from the serial stream and displaying it in a ‘click to insert’ format. If the data is in a non-standard format the data is displayed in such a way that the operator can ‘cut and paste’ the initial set of data and the software can automatically strip the data from there.

Once the data has been selected, it is then positioned using a ‘drag and drop’ method. All the resizing, aligning, color and font changing can easily be done on the screen, in real time, using a mouse.
